LEE SMALLZ

Dj Lee Smallz as they know her whose real name is Lerato Seboko is a DJ and novice producer with an acquired taste in music grew up in Soweto (Rockville). Her love for the art of music started at a very early age with an artistically vibrant background where she became acquainted with different kinds of arts: music, artistic drawing, drama and poetry.

 

Captivated by the harmonious sounds she decided to pursue her love for music and took on DJing and poetry with the aim of expressing herself creatively and educate people about the art of music.

 

 She started off in 2006 as a “Software DJ” using the likes of Atomix and Virtual DJ she then decided to further her skill and follow her passion for music, she went and did her Diploma in Djing and music production at DJ Mix Club School of Technics and graduated in 2009 since then she has shown amazing growth but she believes there’s still a lot of growth that needs to happen for her to succeed in this music industry. Lee Smallz has been playing at various clubs, events and private functions around Joburg, Pretoria, Durban and Limpopo. She has also hosted her own events; Cocktail Sundays and was also part of a Deep House Movement called Rhythmic Movement.

 

Lee Smallz plays anything from deep house, lounge, Deep-tech, commercial house to broken beats but her first love being Deep Soulful House and lately she has fallen in love with playing Dancehall music. Her greatest inspiration comes from Vinny, Christos and Black Coffee together with the likes of Glen Lewis, Trev The Japanese, Sai & Ribatone and internationally acclaimed Abicah Soul, Vick Lavender, Doll Combers, Boddhi Satva, Atjazz, Afefe Iku, Kerri Candler, Robert Owen, Hendrik, Ralf Gum, Atjazz, Charles Webster, Osunlande, Louie Vega, Quentin Harris, Blaze and Rocco, Kuniyuki Takahashi just to name a few. Her style of djing is not only about the skill but how different kinds of sounds can harmonize and influence the crowd. Her music selection will leave you with a euphoric sensation

 

Achievements:

 

Dj Lee Smallz was nominated as one of the top 10 Gauteng Finalists for Gauteng Carnival DJ competition, she was also part of the top 10 finalist for Lady Lea’s Divas on Decks competition and she has participated in various DJ Battles i.e. Open Closet battle of the womyn, The Zone battle of the female djs etc.

 

She has shared the stage with DJ Zinhle, Christos, Kuniyuki Takahashi (Japan), Nick Holder(Canada), Mahoota & Vetkuk, Lindi Lush, Sphetacula, Miss Pru, Sue, Milkshake, Ganyani, China, Culoe De Song, Kent, Fresca, Zonke, Bucie, The Muffinz, Pex Africah, Groove Candi, Miss GrooveSoul, LadyZeejay, Zai Maya, Les G, Trevor The Japanese, and played with KillerMafra, Tshepo (BCUC) on Percussions. Some of her mixes have been played on Metro FM (The Urban Beat Saturdays with Siphokazi and Marian)
